Grammar point 4: Linking verb “to feel” +adjective
To describe the feeling of someone or something causes, use “to feel” +adjective.
Example: I feel healthy when I do exercise everyday.
Practice: Write sentences to describe how you feel when you:
· play sports
· do homework
· go to the gym
· run a race
· lose or gain weight
Grammar point 5: It + to be + adjective + to verb
Use this formation to write sentences about an action or activity: It + to be + adjective + to verb
Example: It is easy to run a marathon!
Practice:
Step 1: Find the opposite of these adjectives: boring, hard, difficult.
Step 2: Use the adjectives to write sentences describing different activities.
Example: It is difficult to play chess. /It is easy to play checkers.
Grammar point 6: Gerunds as subjects:
Subjects can take the form of the gerund (verb + ing as noun).
Example: Playing chess is difficult.
Practice: Change the sentences to use a gerund as the subject. Write five more sentences in the same form.
a. It is easy to run a race.
b. It is easy to play checkers.
c. It is hard to study mathematics.
d. It is simple to get good marks.
